Margaret River
Margaret River is the Kardashian of WA’s wine scene, and for good reason (nothing to do with being curvy). Located about three hours south of Perth, this region is all about aesthetic vibes. It’s renowned for its powerful Cabernet Sauvignon, alongside some of the country’s best Chardonnay.
The region isn’t just about what’s in the glass, though. There’s pristine beaches, lush forests, and vineyards for days.

Swan Valley
Is it the oldest out of Western Australia’s wine regions? Yep, but don’t be ageist, Swan Valley is actually super unique. Known for bold reds and sweet fortifieds, this place gives laid-back heritage vibes.
It’s the ultimate spot for a chilled day out, with loads of boutique producers scattered throughout to explore. Being only 25mins from Perth makes it super accessible for those with a tight schedule.

Great Southern
Stretching across five subregions, Albany, Denmark, Frankland River, Mount Barker, and Porongurup, the Great Southern is one of those hidden in plain sight gems. This sprawling region might fly under the radar, but its wines are seriously top-tier. It’s especially famous for its Riesling, which is crisp, fresh, and floral, as well as Pinot Noir that can rival the best in the country.
Geographe
This wine region lives in the constant shadow of it famous neighbour, Margaret River, but today we are shining a big bold light on it… because giving the lesser known places a chance is when you strike gold. Geographe is all about letting the grapes do the talking, From crisp Semillon to bold and structured shiraz, this region thrives on variety.

Pemberton
If you love cool climate wines like Reisling or Pinot Noir, then Pemberton will be your jam. This small region is tucked away in the heart of towering Karri forests, giving it an almost magical vibe. It’s a bit off the beaten path, but those who make the journey are rewarded with exceptional Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
Oh, and let’s not forget, Pemberton is also home to WA’s famed truffles, so a visit here is a feast for both the taste buds and the soul.

Blackwood Valley
We love an quiet achiever and Blackwood Valley is just that. Its a small regional town that produces some of WA’s most boutique wines. The focus is on quality over quantity, which if we are being outspoken everyone could learn a thing or two about. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz dominate the scene here, but the region’s winemakers aren’t afraid to experiment with different varieties, so there’s always something new to discover.

Peel
Located just south of Perth, Peel is where the coast meets the vines. This sun-drenched region produces everything from crisp Chenin Blanc to bold Shiraz, thanks to its warm, Mediterranean climate. It’s the perfect spot for wine lovers who want to mix their tasting with a side of beach time. Think warm afternoons spent at a winery followed by a lazy and somewhat boozy sunset over the ocean.
Now, Peel may not be the most famous region, but its wines are pure WA – vibrant, fresh, and full of life.
