THE EVENT BLUEPRINT
If you’re planning a party in Melbourne most advice will tell you to lock in a venue, pick your menu and call it a day. That’s how you get something…fine. This is how you get something much much better.
Below you’ll find our go-to strategies to taking your event from average to amazing. Plus we have included actual trends and ideas for your 2026 event… thank us later!!!

START WITH THE VIBE
Before you begin, close your eyes. What do you want the night actually feel like? Low-lit and intimate? Loud and a little chaotic? Polished, but not stiff?
That decision shapes everything from your venue, your layout, your styling.
If you don’t immediately see the vibe, get on Pinterest asap and use the search terms below. Many of our event ideas have stemmed from a pin that made us feel envious…
- Classy event
- Brand event
- Party atmoshpere
Our suggestions for your event this year? Tap into the aesthetic as much as possible, its 2026, we aren’t running plastic plates in the local RSL.
- Draping, whether it be an entrance or a photo wall moment.
- Projections, I’m not talking a screen with a slideshow, I’m talking sheer projections of brand videos or even a B&W movie!
- A theme, yes I predict themes are coming back. Take our Masquerade Party for example.
- Lighting, no big lights on this isn’t a conference and people want to feel comfortable. Think about lower indirect lighting like table lamps, candles, neons, spotlights (we have all of those at Melbourne Winery).
CUSTOMISE IT
This is where it stops feeling like a corporate event. It really is the small details of an event that can elevate it. Think custom menus on each table, place cards, bar signs, napkins. It brings cohesion to the event and little ‘oh look at that’ moments.
Our suggestions for your event?
- A wine glass doubling as a place card, think names pegged on the rim, bonus points if its a polaroid image of the guest.
- Menus on the table, even when you don’t technically need them its a chance for a cute branded/personalised moment.
- Decals, order stickers to go on the mirrors in the bathroom, or on the floor at the entrance, or on the walls. This level of detail doesn’t go unoticed.
- Custom drinks, name a cocktail after something relevant to your guests.
- Take home gift, think kids’ lolly bag but grown up. We never really grew out of lolly bag phases, we get just as excited about them as adults. Even if its something small, its a momento.
It’s not about doing more.
It’s about doing a few things deliberately.
HAVE A PHOTO MOMENT
This isn’t optional anymore.
If you want your EOFY to live beyond the night, you need a space designed for it,
not just somewhere people happen to take photos.
It’s the difference between a quick group shot…
and something people actually stop for.
Our suggestions for your event:
- A floor length mirror with a custom decal surrounded by candles.
- A floral installation with your brand woven through it.
- A red velvet entrance moment that sets the tone before the first drink.
It doesn’t have to be big.
It just has to be considered.
Because this is the part that gets shared, saved, and seen by people who weren’t even there.
INTRODUCE THEATRICS
This is the turning point. The moment the night shift
from people politely enjoying themselves… to something with a bit more energy.
Our suggestion for your event:
- A champagne tower that draws a crowd before anyone’s even asked to gather.
- Live food finished in front of guests, like our tiramisu station. Or an oyster bar with chef freshly shucking oysters.
- Entertainment, from a sax player, to a DJ, to roaming artists and tarot card readers. We have done it all and trust us when we say it’s the highlight of the evening.
It’s not just what’s happening.
It’s how it’s revealed.
Even the structure of the evening plays a role here.
If you have formalities, keep them quick. Seamless. Maybe even a little unexpected.
No long pauses, no loss of momentum.
Because once the energy drops, it’s hard to get it back.
Done properly, this is the point where people stop treating it like a work event—
and start settling into the night.
GIVE PEOPLE A REASON TO STAY
This is where most events lose the room. The formalities are done. Another drink has been poured. And people start thinking about heading off or DNMing in the bathroom.
This is the moment that matters.
Plan something at the end that resets the energy,
not winds it down (if you’re into throwing a proper party).
Our suggestions for your event:
- A late-night snack, think sliders, fries or tiramisu.
- Music shift, once speeches are over get everyone to the dancefloor, change the tone for a party.
- Theatrics, this is where you could include the theatrics we mentioned earlier.
It doesn’t need to be big. It just needs to land at the right time.
And suddenly, no one’s checking the time anymore.
Most people will book a venue and hope for the best. You don’t have to, you can throw the party that everyone will be talking about.
