We’ve all been sold the lie: suffer five days to earn two. But if you’re only living for the weekend, babe, you’re getting a bad deal. Mondays aren’t the enemy, they’re the perfect excuse to uncork something great. Like a free bottle of wine...
But really, why are Mondays so hard?
So apparently science says it’s not just in your head (thank god).
After a weekend of sleeping in, socialising, and eating like calories don’t exist your internal clock has become feral – rip.
Come Monday? You’re out of sync, your stress hormones are throwing a tantrum, and it feels like you’ve lived three lives before lunch. This is called social jet lag, and it’s why your Monday feels like it’s already been a whole week.
Pro tip: your diet doesn’t have to start on Monday – a random Thursday will do x

So, how do we stop living for the weekend?
It feels impossible to switch the narrative from ‘glorify the weekend, grind through the week.’
The kicker is the realisation that you’re giving up five-sevenths of your actual life just ‘getting by’. Now don’t get me wrong, im an advocate for rotting in bed and recharging your battery. BUT, how can we stop living completely for the weekend?
DO. THINGS. YOU. LOVE
Feels a bit deep for this time of day hey? sorry. But you’re the controller of your life, get in control!!! (becoming a motivational speaker wasn’t in my 2025 bingo card but here we are).
And this leads me to my next point.
Updating your Monday ritual
Turns out that I’m a simple person and the things that I ‘love’ include going out for dinner and having a wine with my besties (sue me!!!!)
Which brings me to ‘Monday’s Uncorked’ at Melbourne Winery. Every Monday from 5pm you can get a bottle of wine on the house (feel free to stop reading that was the most important part). All you have to do is buy two large plates, easy? done!
Here’s to your new Monday ritual.
